This is a travesty of justice. I encourage everyone to read Dorothy Rabinowitz's article in the OpEd Section to today's Wall Street. Prosecutors like Nifong wear the face of evil cloaked in the guise of justice. He was all about getting elected, it worked, nevermind that he ruined the lives of three young men and their teammates. They are marked for life, Nifong should wear an A for a__hole for the rest of his.

Well ... When Ray Nagin was re-elected mayor of the devastated Big Easy, Barns thought he had seen it all. No so. Nifong was re-elected and still has a job! And keeps making inflamatory speeches about his non-case! Talk about riding the wrong horse off a cliff. But then he can always run for office in Vermont....

Barns seems to agree with me. Where's the fight? How about discussing the issue what how does a beaurocrat (like Nifong) ignore this case and not be called a "racist" or have "racist motivations?" Some African American kids in Long Beach were convicted of brutally beating 3 white girls and not the African American community is crying foul. Did these kids beat these girls up? Yes, then game, set, match. Sooooo two questions: where is the African American community's outcry regarding the beating vs. the conviction and how can a prosecutor not take the claims (however false) of a minority less than completely serious?

You are giving me a quintessential "rock and hard place" perch to pontificate from... The Long Beach case - some of those kids are being sentenced today (juvie hall no doubt). There WAS NO outcry from either the white or black communities. Too many professional victims and too many P.C.ers. Sad all around. Nifong is a quintessential political prostitute whose doings benefited NOBODY. Glad that ultimately not him either. The pathetic alleged victim - who nobody talks about anymore, the kids whose lives are inexorably changed, the constituency who bought into his self-serving venom. The ostrich factor in play. Barns watched Nifong perform at an all black college. At that rally, he was the champion of civil rights! Hate-mongering, really! Nifong is done, as careers go. What about his audience? Where ARE the MANY, MANY brilliant black scholars who SHOULD BE ADDRESSING THAT AUDIENCE? Paradox: silent minority?
