Putin: former Bush best friend budding New Age Stalin?
Hyper sensitive, empire builder has serious fits of nationalism! He is about to nationalize all Russian oil and gas. Is he also systematically stifling dissent within Russia (and selectively abroad)? More crack-downs on independence-seeking former territories?
Worst yet, and this scares the heck out of Barns, he is exporting old fashioned "Soviet" imperialism by way of New Age weapons.
Or ... do his gonads just grow as oil prices rise?
PS. The invasion of Georgia has been planned for over two years. That real estate is too valuable to let go. Great beach front property. Also thruway for oil pipelines. Putin just wanted to beat down those pesky Chechens first....

I would say looking into Putin's eyes would be to stare into the Depths of Hell, Georgia , Supporting Iran's Nuclear ambitions are a carefully thought out DISTRACTION I WILL BET that with in a year,That Russia make a lunge towards the west.The precursor to this will be a diplomatic protest over some imagined transgression by western forces any where in the world, Any excuse will DO!!!!!

Some time ago, McCain said that when he looked into the eyes of Putin he saw KGB! Now that's a skilled and insightful Presidential Candidtate. Putin was always a bully empowered by his career as a thug in the KGB. Once a bully, always a bully, especially when his dimunitive size drives him to overcompensating for his shortcomings.

From what I hear , down here Georgia wanted to become a NATO member.I think that and the Missile Shield system deal with Poland , Mr Putin and co have decided the Western Forces are just TOO CLOSE for comfort and it's Time he showed us that Russia still rules that part of the world!!And to hell with the rest of us.

Russia is back with a chip on it's shoulder as big as South Ossetia, no wait, Georgia, no wait all the break away republics... The steam engine, the combustion engine.. why the @#$% can't we get on with this solar engine thing. We put a man on the moon, a rover on Mars, mapped the human genome. A simple solar engine can;t possibly be that hard and would change the future of the world.

You need to see from here. Maybe we have new Soviet Union. Big army and big apetite for land, money, oil and gas. Georgia has been sickness for Putin for long time. I am not sure about the Lewis Black reference here. Whatever that is, Black is brilliant. Putin is a megalomaniac. I don't want to agree with McCain much. I don't agree with him much. Not much with Barrack Obamamania. McCain did say that when he looks into Putin's eyes he sees KGB. Not the same with Bush. He just looked in Putin's eyes. I guess he saw nothing.

Well, Barnsdoes not drink Vodka. He is, however, always learning something. AND he has spent a LOT of time all over that region of the world. Actually, TOO MUCH TIME.
NOT COMMUNISM, pilgrim. Barns is concerned about STALINISM! The thought of tanks on the streets of Moscow (and everywhere else in Central and Western Europe) scares some well learned parts of Barns' psyche.
