Have to put in my pick before it goes public... Rudy Guiliani VP. Republicans will win over Obama & Hilary as VP. They will think the double race card will help, but it will actually hurt.

Hillary's advantage in experience is blown outof proportion. She has 4more years experience asa state senator, but he has been an elected official (Illinois Senate) for 3more years. It's impossible to value her experience asfirst lady w/o knowing what her impact at that position was. Neither have any executive experience. With the differences sosmall, this cannot be the deciding factor. Voting records, stance on issues, trustworthiness = Obama for me.

I suppose that if you require major surgery - hopefully that will never happen - you will chose an intern rather than a seasoned doctor because he/she comes across sincere and is physically appealing.

Barns would pick the best and most experienced no matter his personal appeal.

You need to remember: our next president MUST gain IMMENSE world stature = respect and be feared for well thought out, experience based strong American positions.

And he needs to have historical perspective.

Comparing their differences in experience toa seasoned doctor andan intern is exactly whatI meanby exagerating the small differences in their resumes. Its more important for meto agree witha candidate's vision forthe country than itis tobe comforted by a few more years in the Senate. Like Obama said, its important tobe ready onday one, but its also important tobe right. Ifhe were president, we wouldn't bein Iraq right now. Can't saythe same for Hillary.

If we had to elect somebody today as sad as that would be, we would probably have a choice between Clinton and Romney. A question for Barns: can we have a third option to nominate write-in candidates? I think people have pets that might be more generally popular candidates.

I think it's too soon to call, but I'll make an outrageous prediction: Clinton/Obama. We're ready for a CHANGE and this the operative word for the '08 election. So, let's go all the way with a female president and an African American VP. Now that's something to talk about!!!On a more "sound" footing - McCain/Giulani!!

You know ... in some minor way, Barns likes Obama. Perhaps it is because he is just a STARTING POLITICAL ANIMAL.

The problem: if you had a horrible heart condition (God forbid) and needed a cardio-thoracic surgeon, would YOU go to a doc. one year out of residency?

Not likely. You would want the most experienced and successful doctor anywhere!

That is what Barns DREAMS for his ideal presidential candidate. Regrettably, NOBODY AROUND THAT GETS EVEN CLOSE.

The problem with Obama is : would you put this country's might into the hands of a novice?

Novice is a realitive term Barns. For arguments sake lets say that this more experienced is stuck in the old ways and clearly doesn't want to change this methods. Yes they get the job done but it's just (as Mash called it) Meatball surgery. Let's say that the less experienced doctor knows a better way of doing it and it keeps you safer in the long run. I choose safer over experience

First, think thru giving the most potent armed forces in the world AND the decision making authority of the most powerful office in the world in the hands of somebody with ZERO experience. Ouch. Would you have open heart surgery done by the best RESIDENT just graduating from an OK med. school -- during the first day of his practice? Nah .... You might want him assisting in the surgery.

Second, will the rest of the world take Obama seriously? Not likely.... No international meat at all on his bones.

If I could mix two canidates it would be Richardson and Obama. That would also be a great ticket for the whitehouse. problem is richardson is pro hillary.

The fact that Clinton voted for the war in Iraq and has taken money from lobbyists take away from her advantage in experience and credibility/ability to bring the necessary change. It appears that Obama will be able to do a better job getting Congress to work together and bring transparency to the government. What experience does Clinton have over Obama that you can compare them to a seasoned doctor and an intern?

We are looking for someone to take care of our home and family. Bring our troops home, correct a failing health system, secure the boarders, and keep us safe. Nominees: McCain & Obama

You ask a massive question.... The fundamental issue is with the political process more so than THE OFFICE OR THE PERSON IN IT. Without term limits, the President is just another politician running for re-election. One 6 year term will do it for Barns! Also, our best and brightest will not run for office. In our world of regressing puritan ethics and tragic political correctness, no politician will speak his/her mind much less act purely on conscience.

Perfersely, much maligned President Bush is more likely to speak to (although not eloquently) AND act his heartfelt convictions than any recent president. Certainly since Johnson, who was also much maligned (inherited VietNam) yet enormously efficient in domestic matters.

          Interesting. Also dead wrong.

You offered an opinion. You also asked: "That's what I think, what do you?"

The response you got from Barns commenced with: "You ask a massive question..." Then some thoughts on the fundamental issues associated with presidential decision making.

How you can construe that as stepping on your opinion is a challenge to Barns. On the contrary.

Finally you have begun to think.
