My step grandfather was one and it sure didn't rub off on me. Barack probobly joined the largest church in the chicago area and didn't think much of it.

As to Obama joining the "biggest church in Chicago", that was not the case 20 years ago. He joined THAT church to get street cred. in the Chicago black community to establish that as a voting constituency -- in the predominantly black district where he elected to run.
And, YES: he said, over and over, that Wright was his mentor and spiritual leader. MENTOR and LEADER.
