THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO YOU.....
Barns spent a bit of time with a cataclysmically injured young woman at a rehabilitation convalescent center.
This splendid human being was horribly injured in an accident on a San Francisco street. Many – most of her major bones were crushed and she lost a leg.
As to her physical self, she is surviving. I expect not nearly as well as she professes.
As to her thinking, feeling, caring self, she is as vibrant as anybody Barns knows! Spellbindingly so.
Just felt like sharing with all of you what brought Barns to tears this morning.
The amazing spirit of this young woman brings into focus, no, under our collective intellectual and emotional microscope, what we all feel, why we feel whatever that is with the intensity we might, and the ultimate relevance of all that. Our relevance, however we express that and act on it.
Would like to hear from you all on the human condition and spirit, as you see it, feel it, would like to experience it.
And as you might have lived it.

The human spirit is a wondrous thing.A strong spirit can endure all that is thrown at it and keep on coming .People like this young woman should be held up with pride not looked at with pity.Because the inspire me not to give up when the going gets tough . I say to her "YOU GO GIRL!! "

Lately, it seems as though daily, very minor life stressors have been taking a major toll on me. It is stories such as these that really put perspective on what is truly important. It is extremely hard not to take for granted the privileges that we have until they are lost forever. I admire the courage and vivaciousness of those who have to face trauma with such high spirits.

I give thanks for my blessings every morning, for I have been truly blessed - children, grandchildren, health, a job, more. Sometimes God does His best work when we are broken or in our darkest times. I remind myself that no matter how bad it seems, there is some good in every situation and I look for the good. I decided many years ago that happiness is a DECISION I make every day.

These types of situations always hit my heart! And, they bring things back to perspective for me -I'm thankful for what I have and try to never lose sight of all the good that surrounds me. Of all the obstacles/challenges that I face throughout my life, these situations always cause me to take a moment and say THANK YOU. I have been fortunate and always try to be good to others!

I am touched by this topic. I have known many people in my world who have every reason and opportunity to be good and honest. Yet they elect to be users and trample other good and honest people they deal with. I try to do the right thing all the time. Sometimes my best effort is not good enough.
