HONOR KILLINGS AND OTHER "MULTICULTURALISM" MANIFESTATIONS.
MULTICULTURALISM IS A GREAT THING, WHEN IT DOES NOT - BY DEFINITION OR DESIGN - EXCLUDE ASSIMILATION INTO THE LOCAL POPULATION, AT LEAST TO THE EXTENT MANDATED BY LAW AND SOCIETAL STANDARDS.
And it is a good thing when existing bodies of law are not ignored in the name of politically correct acceptance of multiculturalism.
The many diverse immigrant ethnic groups that make up the American landscape-populi, bring a great deal of wonderful diversity to our basic lifestyle. It is a dangerous road for ALL OF US when those various ethnic groups seek and often create minor societies of their own within the accepted society et al. It is not appropriate for significant segments of the population to ignore existing laws and societal conventions because those do not align with their own beliefs, mores and behaviors.
It is NOT OK for an Afghan man to stab his teenage sister to death because she embraced ordinary teen behaviors (in Germany).
It is NOT OK for the U.K. to spinelessly approve its schools taking all references of Islam out of textbooks so that Muslim students could not possibly be offended by those.
It is not OK for Mexican immigrants in Los Angeles to raise chickens and pigs in their back yards AND SLAUGHTER THOSE FOR FOOD, in violation of federal, state and local laws.
It is not OK for public schools in Los Angeles to EXCLUDE non-spanish speaking students and conduct an entire curriculum in Spanish.
It is NOT GOOD FOR THE PURPORTED BENEFICIARIES OF THOSE ACCOMMODATIONS. The result is self-created and self-enforced and self-perpetuated segregation.
Multiculturalism, as a PART of the culture and lifestyle ENRICHES ALL OF US! And is most welcome by the majority of the population.
BY DEFINITION! After all, with the exception of Native Americans, all of us have roots elsewhere! And most of us grew up with customs and behaviors passed down to us by our immigrant ancestors.

Speaking from personal experience ,Wait till you became the minority in your own country!!Before for I move to this quiet little hamlet I now call home I live in the biggest Polynesian city in the world Pacific Islanders outnumber NZ born Kiwis 2 to 1 Add to that the Asian (Indians , Chinese ,Koreans and Japanese ) we have more Non Kiwis than Naturals......

WITH ALL OUR ISSUES, HISTORICAL SCARS AND ETHNIC/RELIGIOUS/RACIAL STRIFE, THIS IS THE SINGULARLY MOST WELCOMING AND EMBRACING COUNTRY ON EARTH.
On first hand knowledge, there is no country on earth nor citizenry on earth that embrace immigrants to the extent the U.S. does. As well as their customs and lifestyles.

I think that's why immigrants to this country feel inclined to assimilate. It's not an us or them mentality for the most part, unless you watch Fox Cable News. Just give each group a generation or two. I think the natural Americans who refuse to welcome incoming immigrant groups are the ones who aren't assimilating.

I have no problem with Immigrants or their beliefs I do however feel that if you are going to a new country ,You show respect for the beliefs and traditions(religious or otherwise) of your host .You do not start making demands such those mentioned in your original post

well done I see somebody's been doing their research 1) There are NO real Maori left in NZ , They myself included are Half breeds .Some of us lighter than others Maori culture is making a comeback And believe me there's nothing like a full on Haka(Challenge/Welcome)to stir the blood ,Ask Bill Clinton even his body guards were look for somewhere else to be!!

Barns held a creative meeting at a presidential suite in a big and well known hotel. The suite was just vacated by then President Reagan. Barns visited the suite before it was cleaned up, after Reagan's departure (to have it properly set up). EVERY TV IN THE SUITE, 6 TVs, WERE TURNED ON AND TO CNN.
Barns followed President Clinton in another hotel suite. Every TV was set on CNN.
CNN INTERNATIONAL was Barns' companion around the world when he incessantly traveled.
No more.
How far has the mighty machine fallen.
Calling Ted Turner and hopefully he lands on terra firma IF he lands at all.

Hispanics are the majority in Los Angeles and I am not Hispanic. Therefore, I am a minority. I'm originally from New England which ethnically is much different than it was a hundred years ago. Do you think that the Irish, Italians, French Canadians, Greeks, Armenians and Portuguese have all assimilated? (the answer is yes, very successfully) What makes you think that Asians and Latinos won't do the same? (the answer is yes)

Right you are, Sir. We have not a clue what is happening to our country. We are losing our identity here. First it was the Northern Ireland controversy and war, which we fought in earnest. Now, we are giving in to pressure from the Muslim extremists. This country is now as foolhardy as it can be. Great Britain might as well be called what used to be Great Britain. I pray for survival.
