Sheik Saleh al-Lihedan, the chief of the kingdom's highest tribunal, the Supreme Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia said Sunday that owners of satellite TV networks that show "immoral" content should be brought to trial and sentenced to death.
Just to be clear that he was issuing a heartfelt and binding FATVA, he clarified the law: "Those calling for corrupt beliefs, certainly it's permissible to kill them." Those calling for sedition, those who are able to prevent it but don't, it is permissible to kill them."
So there. Another expression of the enlightened practice of Islam in Saudi Arabia.
Two thoughts... OK. Perhaps three....
1. The heartiest “partiers” in all the “hot spots” around the world are, you guessed it, Saudi and other Middle Eastern royalty. They drive up prices of hotels, limousines and “other entertainment vendors and resources”. Not that the rest of us can afford anything of the kind in Paris, Saint Tropez, Marbella, Capri or anywhere alike in the world. Or are interested in all those other "entertainment resources". Between the Middle Easterners and the Russians with limitless resources... Well. You get it.
2. Why do Westerners travel to the Middle East in increasing numbers? What is fascinating about experiencing first hand being hated?

But for oil dropping to below $96.00 a barrel today, Barns would really get ticked off by all this. For now, a minor celebration instead. Barns understands that crude oil spread on pita bread really sucks.

I'm proud and thankful to be a US citizen!! Nothing like living in free world where freedom of speech is the way of life. I do like to traveling to foreign countries to get a taste of how other parts of the world live. But, always come back to "there's no place like home" - that being the good old USA - regardless of what's going on in the banking world today!

Funny that I don't hear the same indignation regarding our own group of religious zealots. That being the Christian religious right. While the do not use "blood in the streets" rhetoric as we hear from Islamic Fundamentalists, they are still as fantical as those they call ungodly. The relisoug rihght demanding everyone think as they do, feel as they feel, and believe as they do. Sound familiar? It should for they are no different.

Your comment about not hearing the same indignation re. religious right in this country is irrelevant to the topic. If Barns wanted to rag on that, you can be sure he would have.
All religious zealotry is unacceptable. Simple enough?
A "minor" observation for you, given your persistence of finding nothing redeeming about any U.S. institution or its people. YOu cannot possibly draw a moral equivalency between islamo-fascism (read that as getting your head lopped off) and anything that the religious right professes in the U.S.
Before you get apoplectic over this, Barns has zero patience and less than zero use for any and all fundamentalists in the world.

You might want to do some more thinking dear fellow. If you want to get scared out of your knickers read on what our courts did to appease the Muslims in the UK. They established a parallel court system to operate on our shores. A sharia court system who can make judgments in many cases. You fancy this a good and appropriate thing? I think we are just scared out those fascists.
