UUUUUGLY !!!!
The debates and the rest of the campaign ....
1. If McCain gets UGLY, he will lose.
2. If McCain does NOT get ugly, he will likely lose.
What can he to do to win? Can he win?
For a year now, Barns has been telling all that the McCain campaign is amateurish, pathetically conceived and executed. Not worthy of HIGH SCHOOL COUNCIL. It is Barns's view that this is the second worst campaign in the modern history of presidential politics. Second only to the well deserved tie between the Dukakis and Dean campaigns.
And then they added Palin. What were they thinking? this is a presidential campaign with real consequences. How on earth did they make such an emotional, impulsive, strictly marketing choice-of-the-moment?
What DO YOU THINK?
Righteous blogger/bud Andy Ostroy holds that we don't have a choice.
McCain is seriously "yesterday," in fact at best McCain is 'the last 8 years' redux. Obama represents change. As a practical matter, Ostroy asserts. Obama is the obvious choice even if he just creates the perception of representing much needed change.
That will impact the psyche of the electorate and move both the political and economic processes [positively and necessarily/critically] forward.
What do you all think?

This is a shipwreck all the way around. McCain is over the hill in all ways. Obama lacks substance in all ways except as a deliverer of well written speeches. i will give him kudos for learning some from those speeches. They scare the hell out of me. Andy should really look for value in other points of view not just the narrowest that supports his.

What did you want from Ifel, Andy? She should have walked from the assignment. You are pissed because she did not burry McCain? She was so doomed before this all started. Voting for Obama. Default candidate for me.

Andy really doesn't like McCain or Palin, And while I agree with a lot of what he says, The blatant Obama electioneering is also obvious. I wonder how much is driven by personal preference? As he (almost fanatically) Attacks the Pair without mentioning Obama's Gaffes ! Also noted were the TWO links for contributions to The Obama Campaign Fund . A little one sided to be taken SERIOUSLY

I think he is a committed cheerleader for Obama. Obama cannot do anything wrong. McCain is just Bush continued and Bush is totally evil. There is another side, Mr. Ostroy. It may not matter, though. Do you believe that in this big storm we should put the ship in the hands of a guy who has never governed anything? Maybe you can give me a couple words of balance here.

I have now taken some time to read Andy Ostroy. One needs a ready supply of plasma and tourniquets to read all that bloody hate. Sound like a really bright and focused guy. Pity that he is not a bit more rounded and inclusive in his thinking. If he read this, I hope he understands a little bit about the thinking of one of my favorites: Isaac Newton on action and reaction.

I will take a very deep breath before typing anymore. I don't believe in miracles. It is just how big a victory will be celebrated in a few weeks. After that, we all pray for the resilience of the American people. It is us to keep the bums in line. We have to do that better than with the bums who have put us in the huge youknowwhat hole we are in now.

Ugly indeed. I watched the debate. How truly sad that was. A battle of neardowells. Our politicians are so much hot air. Your presidential candidates are, well, I reckon that if I swear my post will be blown up. President Palin or Biden should not be acceptable. President Obama and McCain are both in dog-doo-doo pick up family. I fear what all that will do to us on the continent. Nothing good I fear.

Obama will tax this country right into poverty. His Liberalistic philosophy is to keep all the people dependant on the government. And in turn he believes this will keep the people voting Democratic. Entitlements is charity to Obama. He wants to pour our money into projects to help a lot of people who won't help themselves, but are dependent on government handouts. Wow!!

high school? grade school! even I remember how we used to pick teams for three flies up.... competence meant nothing next to being cute. No, really, Andy's notion is pretty solid. If nothing else, the nations perception of Obama=Change is positive and if he continues to rally and motivate the people...not so bad.
