Talk about a real STENCH!

Hugo Chavez lays serious stench on Obama. And Obama lets him do it!

“Obama is poor ignorant person ... I believe he brings the same stench as President Bush.”

Just a couple of the fine comments by the U.S.’s biggest fan, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Good to know that we do shake hands with that fine world leader who has repeatedly characterized the U.S.A. as Imperialist genocidal fascist, murderous empire that exploits and pillages the world. And on and on and on.

Albeit lovely music to hard core Bush haters, hearing Chavez declare “I think Hitler would be like a suckling baby next to George W. Bush" is neither amusing nor should be easily dismissed.

It would have made for a VERY INTERESTING SCENE – ONE Barns WOULD HAVE REALLY ENJOYED, had Obama refused to shake Chavez’s hand, the first time that dictator forced himself into the CAMERA SHOT with his “damn America” book-gift to Obama.

OK. Obama was caught by surprise.

What about the second time, when Chavez traded his black-fascist fatigues for his Seville Row suit with blood red Soviet tie and the two of them shared a buddy “dap” handshake?

We disagree, Mr. President. That WAS significant; Chavez used that photo opp. to good advantage. You might have instructed the Secret Service to keep that creep away from you.

Barns concurs with the old adage: “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” But: there is no need to have anything “presidential” to do with that two bit, tin-badged dictator.

What Do You Think?

Talk about a real STENCH!

The Picture of Hugo Chavez with his head bobbing up and down in Putin's lap and slurping sounds comes to mind when I am forced to listen to his rhetoric.Surely nobody takes him seriously ?

The only people this has any effect on are people who see their world as only political. Not a struggle. Let's talk "red" how many of the anti-Chavez Republicans wear red ties and differentiate the states red/blue dividing this country in the name of politics. Dare you look at this another way? That by approaching Chavez in a civil way, he has disarmed him of his propaganda in the eyes of most.

Not my take at all! Chavez was emboldened by those encounters. He has shown that on tv and his web sites. We discounted the U.S. around the world with that.

I disagree, he was emboldened by Bush who was perceived as a "bad guy" worldwide. His attacks on Bush gave him a lot of support and put him in a leadership role in Latin America. Now he can't yell at a guy who's willing to talk and shake hands. The power of angry populist rhetoric has been decreased.

Oh well that should make the families of the people who are disappearing in Venezuela feel a lot better about Chavez. Wake up all you sympathizers.

The U.S. should have nothing to do with Chavez. One thing we should not be doing is refining his oil. He can send that to some other friend of his to refine, maybe Cuba. Wait: it is either the U.S. or Canada. Every other refinery is too far and too expensive. I suppose we cannot force Canada to tell Chavez to fly a kite.

Wow, you misread what I wrote completely. I'm just saying ham-fisted world politics doesn't work well. It's not a Rambo movie.

Wasn't Chavez elected 3 times? Not defending the guy, I don't know much about Venezuela to be honest. An impromptu handshake doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Plus, didn't Nixon give Brezhnev a car after the USSR invaded Czechoslovakia? Didn't Machiavelli (The Prince) and Sun Tzu (The Art of War)teach us to keep our friends close and our enemies closer?

I invite you to read up on the paradigm of dictatorships.

      And totalitarian regimes.

Please focus on where Venezuela is now by contrast to where it was before Chavez, albeit it was the - according to Chavez the scourge of the earth U.S.'s ally.

Good thing you are writing from here and not Venezuela. If you were a legitimate opposition candidate, you would now disappear.

And he supreme leader for life, Chavez, flanked by Sean Penn and Danny Glover, would hold yet one more TV press conference, sing on his show, mandate his new CD to become a best seller, and ... well, you get it.

Grow up. Makes no difference. Obama should shake hands with anybody who can be important to us. I thought it was really funny.

I would like to do something with this topic and your comment, Rosie too. You are all so right and so wrong. This was a no win for the President. What about his reponse to the other guy, Ortega. He should have slammed that clown.
