WATERBOARDING INDUCES INTELLECTUAL PARALYSIS -- TO THE GOOD GUYS !!
Who knew??
Anybody who ever visited the GITMO detention facility was struck by the absurd degree to which the prisoners’ needs and wants were attended to.
Hell: the U.S. Army removed labels from the purified BOTTLED WATER bottles to not offend the prisoners. You see, in the most minuscule of type, on the very bottom of the label, on the back of the bottle, was a symbol identifying the water as being kosher. Can't have that on the purified bottled water being served to some of the most blood-thirsty, nefarious bastards on earth.
Guards wear gloves so that their disgusting infidel hands do not inadvertently touch the prisoners’ kurans. Cannot pray with a kuran that was touched by one of us.
Oh God! There is that awful playing of our music!
So there. The inhumanity of it all!
Yes. We know who the bad guys are. We can always do better homework; we are not perfect.
Yes. We know how bad they are.
Yes. We know that there is not a snowball’s chance in hell of rehabilitating any of them. Their hate for us is generational and perversely in their gene pool
If waterbording the worst of them MAKES YOU FEEL A BIT MORE AT EASE EVERY TIME YOUR KID WALKS OR DRIVES ACROSS A MAJOR BRIDGE IN THE U.S., then, waterboard the bastards.
But ......
If Department Of Justice lawyers are prosecuted for opinions and policy support papers on interrogation techniques IN THE PAST, THERE WILL BE NO MORE DOJ LAWYERS!
At best, the DOJ will be so paralyzed as to make their input grey with age before being put forth.
And your kid will a lot less safe in the bus or the car or on the subway going to school.
Sound Off!

I can see this is emotional for people. I am really at a loss. On one hand we need to do everything we can to protect ourselves. This enemy is unlike any other in our history. They hate us beyond any reason at all. Life has little value to them. Shedding blood is their way of life. On the other hand, we may be getting in the gutter with them some.

Do you ignore the fact that there has not been another attack of any significance on the U.S. since 2001? Do you think that just happened for no reason at all? That has nothing to do with everything our intelligence agencies have done? The only way to fight this enemy is with good intelligence and ruthless pro-active action. You are getting this from your most liberal challenger, "Backbiter".

All the "Good Intelligence" I've heard is that you don't get "Good Intelligence" through torture. You get desperate people who will say anything to stop the torture. We've endangered our own soldiers with this BS. We've given the world the green light to torture our own guys.

That is foolish. There is no place in the world where life is as valuable as in our country. Where do you come off writing that we caused the blood thirsty extremists in the world to begin torturing people. Next you will blame the U.S. for causing millions of people around the world to be slaughtered in tribal wars. Please think again on this. You have this wrong.

Why are you being nice to this guy? He is looking up on the wrong end of the horse. He is a blame the US guy. I don't like the idea of torturing anybody. If we can prevent the death of thousands of us, even one of us, i will condone waterboarding. I would rather be judged by 12 than carried out by 6.

I see. You are one of those who believes that tough interrogation will result in BS information. You don't think that the intelligence agencies verify any of that information? You think that some murderous bloodthirsty "combatant" runs off at the mouth for a few minutes and we go bomb a city? Even you have to know better.

Army Field Manual 34-52 Chapter 1 says: "Experience indicates that the use of force is not necessary to gain the cooperation of sources for interrogation. Therefore, the use of force is a poor technique, as it yields unreliable results, may damage subsequent collection efforts, and can induce the source to say whatever he thinks the interrogator wants to hear."

Former high-level CIA official Bob Baer said "And torture -- I just don't think it really works ... you don't get the truth. What happens when you torture people is, they figure out what you want to hear and they tell you."

Rear Admiral (ret.) John Hutson, former Judge Advocate General for the Navy, said "Another objection is that torture doesn't work. All the literature and experts say that if we really want usable information, we should go exactly the opposite way and try to gain the trust and confidence of the prisoners."

Come now. Give it a break! Don't you think that a team of qualified people can just administer sodium p. to somebody and get truthful information? You really don't think that government agencies here and just about every nation in the world know a little more about this topic than you and me? Nobody likes the idea of torture. You and me and people we know would never do that. Or would we?

Yes. If you, me or somebody in our families were threatened, you bet your busy internet browser we would! You and I don't want to torture anybody. We will be OK with somebody else doing it for us thought. Be honest. If your life or the lives of your family, if you have one, were threatened, you would make any deal with any devil.

You are joking, right? Every country in the world interrogates their captured enemies especially if they are threatened. The difference between the U.S. and most other nations is that we don't pull off fingernails. Waterboarding is like "101".

And who says this won't be turned on you if you dare speak ill of those in power. The absurdity of you statements sounds more like that of an ignorant buffoon. Do we now become that which our soldiers fought and died for? It was said, by Thomas Jefferson "those who trade safety for freedom deserve neither". Or would you have him sent to Gitmo? I choose not to use a tyrant's means

Ignorant buffoon?
Buffoon: Never. Amusing and entertaining perhaps.
Ignorant: Of facts, sometimes, knowledge being ubiquitous and endless.
Funny about Jefferson. The man had more personal GITMOs then anybody of his era (and most following).
Best not judge people's capability for independent thought by their glibness.
As to the topic, good thing, is it not, that it got you thinking, involved and emotional.

Yo! I speak ill of those in power all the time!
I don't, however, build and plant IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES, homicide bombers' vests nor find innovative uses for box cutters.
I have a bit more faith in "us".
No. I have faith in us. You appear to not have that running in YOUR veins.
