The world is really blind to all this. Correction: much of the world choses to be blind to all this. It is easier to go about our daily lives not thinking about all the terrible things that people do to people all around the world every day. Barns asked a question on one of his blogs a while ago: how many women are mutilated every day in Muslim countries? Big deal, you say.

Oh. Have you read about the FTAWA issued by an Indian Muslim cleric against WTA Tennis Pro Sania Mirza because she wears tennis clothes while playing on the tour. That is an affront to the Sunni Imam's interpretation of the religion and a corrupting influence on young people. And must be stopped.
Oh yes. Then there was the massive uproar AND POTENTIAL PROSECUTION OF MIRZA because of the picture of her with her feet perilously close to the Indian flag she was proudly holding during a press conference.
So ... What is the hub-bub about women being mutilated, beaten, ground into non-existence behind their burkas?
