WAR IN IRAQ OVER... And over... And over...
FINISH THE THING ALREADY !! HOW ?
1. Off mega-evil Saddam Now! Alive, feared symbol of “what if” Bush haters “cut’n run.” Also makes for bad TV.
2. Rumsfeld gone: let Baker run the war! The military WILL work for him! Will wait a year for those TV gigs!
3. PUBLISH SCHEDULE for Iran and Syria (stooges Iraq, Lebanon, Hezbollah, Hammas, France), China (No. Korea), and Spain, Germany, France (again) and Uncle Joe Putin:
a. Next 60 days, we kill all the bad people (define broadly) we can find in Iraq and Afghanistan. If it moves, it dies (sorry: war is hell).
b. Day 61, we leave!
c. Repeat every 2 years without failure (limit 2 months each time) with MANDATORY regional detours. Make Iraq new GITMO.
“They” know the wrath of God is coming and when. We know what we are going to do. Good for us, the world, the military, makes even non-allies very happy! Including perfumed/malodorous/spineless French!
Sound off on this IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING MEANINGFUL SAY! Barns...

There are actually only one good way to end the war - Fight it like it was WWII. If an insurgent runs behind a woman's or child's skirt, kill them, if they hide in a mosque, destroy it. After a while they will quick or be killed by their own!

What seems to get past everyone is that the greatest motivator of humanity is self-preservation. Suddenly stubborness and hate that groups feel suddenly evaporate. Let's withdraw our troop to the edges and let them at it. They will either choose to come together and survive or will destroy themselves. That is a fact. Us being there in the middle isn't solving anything.

Bush says he wants time to evaluate the Baker/Hamilton study - I say he should take some time and review the plan carefully. Hopefully his ego will allow him to consider proposals that really do make sense. I say let's get our troops home sooner rather than later.

The whole region is a mess. All of the maps were drawn up by the French and the Brits after WWI. The Brits got into a mess in Iraq in the 1920's and in fact were the first to use chemical agents. If Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld had performed even a little homework work they should have known what to expect.

on 12/01 at 04:58PM PTAS WE MIGHT HAVE BEFORE VIET-NAM! Although we blew that in too many ways to count. Shame that China and the USSR did not "pick up" on our grand scheme to get them to rip each other's throats out. Spoils go to the victor! Or the bystander, in that scennario. Somehow does not track in Iraq, though... Barns is LOOKING and WANTING the spoils of this war!

why didn't Bush meet with the revered bipartisan Iraq study group, that he met with last week, sooner? maybe if Bush had met with experts on the topic of Iraq and the Muslim world, like the this study group, sooner, he could have formed an actual post-invasion plan? we are so dangerously deep in the situation, that any move, staying in or out, is a precarious and pernicious one for both sides?

I can't possibly imagine how we could have made a bigger mess out of this than we did. Now, we have to accept only bad and worse outcomes. Bottomline, you can bring civilization to people who don't want it. So, we even try. Instead, we have to be strong, protect our real interests (maybe oil), seek alliances were practical/necessary and struggle to overcome our naivety. Let's hear constructive solutions. Anybody? Buehler?

on 11/15 at 03:05PM PTYou know, ROGE, Ben Stein likely has better ideas than Nancy and Co. The Dems. best is to wait for old Elephant Baker's plan. I KNOW that Stein is a bunch brighter than much of the Congress in aggregate! And he can also act better! Like him for Scy. Of State. Would give GREAT advice and BORE our enemies into submission!

I agree, as far as I am concerned, it takes our legislature so long to decide on who belongs on what committee and so on and so forth that we can't possibly expect any type efficiency in this matter...Unfortunately that is what it requires...

We can"t kill all the bad people in 60 days because it would take us 360 days to develope a committee to decide who the bad people are. Then another 360 days to decide who should be on the committee. SJC

Actually, the military, left to their own devices, can end this war in Iraq. Well, not really end it. BUT make the situation manageable. We have to make some major military impact BEFORE the diplomats can be successful. Negotiating from strenght is the only way. We can be very compassionate as a nation. But we need not allow our children to be blow up before we get to compassion.

It's all quite simple actually. The only way to America's economy stable is to go to war. Creating war machines for the war is one of the few product that America creates that has not been outsourced. Seriously name something that is still made in the US that is not service orientated.

Actually, we make wonderfully potent weapon systems! And Twinkies! And Viagra. And .... I digress, however. Both you and Barns are off the wall, although there is some charm to making all of Iraq a glass factory. Then bring in Haliburton to re-build the oil infrastructure. And build weapons factories there! Save on transportations costs, inexpensive energy and fuel ... benefits galore. Oh darn ... those pesky civilians....

Once again people miss the point. Yes we make Weapons Systems... its the only thing we make that keeps America's economy from going into the toilet. Why? Because its the only thing that can't be outsourced!! We live in a capitalist society where the stock holder is god and damn anyone who keeps them away from thier money. Without a war or threat of war we would have another depression. Wake up!!!

Ouch.... But for the everpresent burkas (Chanel in Saudi Arabia), and the "Death To Satan (USA and Israel)" signs everywhere, much of the Middle East is already an American Mini-Mall. And one heck of a TV audience. You are missing the opportunity: a mega mall! With Judeo-Christian educational kiosks everywhere. Yes. ... I have embibed a tad more than usual this evening....

Wait one second!!! You people are making it sound like the war isn't over. According to the recruitment officers going into high schools They are saying the war is over and they are bringing our soldiers back. Why on earth would they be saying that if the war is not over? They are the military and have secret insider info. So there is nothing really to worry about anymore.

Surely you are kidding! Over? Hell, the Iraqi government would like us to stay at least another 3 years. Our military thinks 18 months. I think we may be stuck in that muck for years!

And hear I though my sarcasm was seathing. The point of the previous post was that the military is having low recruitment turn out lately. So when they go into schools they are saying the war is over and that they have been pulling out soldiers. Like its all over. By the way what did we win?
